Status bubbles

I think that this should have the name, age and if you are in a relationship because people wont just say "Oi You, in the red shirt".  They can say your name

It should contain medical info so that people don't have to wear medical bracelets

It would change your life because you would know a lot about someone by looking at your head
and would be easy to start a conversation.

I would not like these status bubbles because people could stalk you easily.

Oscar The Cat Predicts Death.

When the administrators of the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island, adopted six 'therapy' cats from an animal shelter, they had no idea that among them was one that possessed an uncanny sixth sense to predict the impending death of terminally ill patients.
Oscar the tabby cat's story begins in 2005, when the newly born kitten was placed on third floor of the nursing center, home to patients that are in the last stages of illnesses like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and cancer. The kitten spent the first year lazing around and watching the bustling activity around him. Then, just before his first birthday, Oscar began visiting each of the 41-patients on the floor regularly, just like the doctors and nurses did.
Initially, the hospital staff did not pay much attention to the feline's behavior. However, after some of the people that Oscar was snuggled next to passed away, they began to notice a pattern - the cat only went close to those that were a few hours away from dying. Otherwise, he would curl up on a desk and spend the day sleeping.
To test if it was just a coincidence, the staff tried to place Oscar next to a patient they believed was close to dying. But the paranormal cat refused to stay put and decided to snuggle next to someone else. Turns out he was right because 'his' patient died that same evening, while the one whose death the nurses had thought was imminent, lived on for another two days.
Among the biggest believers in Oscar's paranormal powers is Dr. David Dosa, a geriatrician and Assistant Professor at Brown University. He is so convinced of Oscar's unusual 'gift' that he not only published a paper about him in the New England Journal of Medicine, but also wrote a book. Entitled "Making rounds with Oscar: The extraordinary gift of an ordinary cat’, the 2010 publication outlines the various pieces of evidence he has been able to gather about the cat's predicting powers. Also convinced is the hospital staff who has been using Oscar's foretelling abilities to inform family members so they can bid farewell to their loved ones before it's too late.
Of course, not everyone believes that Oscar has a sixth sense. Some feline experts think that his perfect timing may have to do with a certain smell that the cat has come to associate with death. Others speculate it may have to do with the lack of movement in people that are about to die.
Then there are the skeptics who maintain that Oscar's record is not as perfect as it has been made out to be. They think that the hospital staff and Dr. Dosa have simply 'cherry-picked' the occasions when Oscar has been accurate and ignored the ones when he has not. Fortunately, none of this negative chatter has affected nine-year-old Oscar who continues to provide comfort to sick people in their last hours

Waimarino

I was hanging on the rack with the other paddles when a big group of students from T.I.S came past, they disappeared around a corner. when they came back they were in togs and were doing the swim test. once everybody completed it they went off and did all of the activities. I was watching people use the diving boards and the gladiator pole. After a while T.I.S did the kayaking activity and they each grabbed a paddle, life vest and kayak I got chosen by a boy and he put me in the kayak we slid out into the water the started paddling out we were out on the water for ages doing lots of activities
when we got back he put me back on the rack and went to get dry. Not long after, all of the T.I.S students came past again all in clothes and with their bags on their backs.

Antonie Dixon was a P addict he was convicted of cutting peoples hands off, shooting a man dead and kidnapping a man. Dixon suffered horrendous abuse as a child, according to evidence given at his 2007 Appeal Court hearing. It was reported that he had been frequently tied to a clothes line, sexually abused, could only bark like a dog, and showed paranoid behaviour over several years. In prison he beat and attempted to gouge the eye of another inmate and pulled a weapon on his own lawyer. He died in prison of apparently self-inflicted injuries.

Bao Bao's first birthday

every animal turns one so why was Bao Bao's first birthday so special? Because only one other giant panda was born at the National ZooHow did the zookeepers celebrate it? they made a delectable tiered cake that was crafted from frozen diluted apple juice and dyed various shades of pink, with beet juice. Frozen in between, were slices of Bao Bao's favorite fruits - apples and pears. Flower appliques carved from carrots and sweet potatoes adorned the top and a large number '1', carved from frozen apple juice, completed the perfect treat.
What are some of the things Bao Bao has learnt during his first year? What are some of the things in store for her before she turns two? she will gradually stop drinking her mother's milk and then just like pandas in the wild, move away from 'home', which in Bao Bao's case means shifting to a separate enclosure.

Dangerous decibels

Today our class went to a programme called dangerous decibels (dB).the lady teaching us was called Toni. We learnt that you can measure sound and that sound is vibrations. She was telling us about how high the decibel level is and if it is 85 then it is safe but anything above 85 decibels then it becomes dangerous. An example of a noise that you can't be around without ear protection is a heavy metal concert and fireworks. The sound off the rain or a washing machine is at 80 db witch is safe and you can  hear it forever.

UGLIEST DOG IN THE WORLD.

How many years has the 'World's Ugliest Dog' contest been around? How many contestants did it attract this year?

It has been around for 26 years and it attracted 29 dog owners this year.

How did this year's winner Peanut get his 'ugly' looks?

He got burnt in a fire and lost most of his hair and his lips.

What is the organizer's main purpose for organizing this unusual competition?

The competition is a great way to honor these pooches, many of whom owe their unusual looks to human abuse. But most importantly, it raises awareness for their adoption by showing the world that physical detractions do not prevent dogs from becoming loving pets.

An Ant

BANG! The starting gun went and giant bodies trampled over me almost squashing me I saw one guy fall over and decided to follow him and see how his race went if felt like an earthquake vibrating under me. I was zooming under people until I got to the guy I wanted to follow he was going good and he looked massive to me I wished I was tall like him.

He almost stood on me as he went down the steep hill and I couldn't keep up with him. He got stuck at the bottom of the hill because there was so many people there so thats where I managed to catch up with him.

He was nearly at the end and coming down that final straight the challenge was on with him and big person in Kahikatea. The Kahikatea Beat him in the last two meters, that was a good race.

What is so special about Migaloo?
Migaloo is special because he has white skin, scientists believe that he has a genetic skin condition called albinism. He was the first ever documented white whale. Migaloo's fans created him webpages and a facebook and twitter page as well.

Migaloo has been given a name in indigenous Australian language which means "white fella".
He immediately got given a special status "special interest whale" which means that boats and people have to be at least 500 meters away from Migaloo and plane 2,000 meters.
People have set up facebook, twitter and webpages.
Migaloo has a lot of fans watching him.

Why is Migaloo known as a 'hypo-pigmented' humpback? is he the only one?
Hypo pigmented means that he has lost all colour.

114-Foot Lego tower.

Where was the most recent tallest Lego structure built? Who built it?
The most recent lego structure was built in Budapest at the front of the Saint Stephen's Basilica and it was built by a elementary school in Budapest.

What are the two requirements imposed by the Guinness World Records before a Lego tower can be eligible for inclusion?
One of the requirements was that the tower had to be free standing so they had to take the wires out. The other requirements was it had to be over 112 ft 11 inch which they made it 114 ft.

Why does the author believe that a new Lego tower record will be attempted soon?
The author believed that the record was going to attempted soon because this record was broken three time alone in 2012.

What in your opinion makes building the world's tallest LEGO structure so popular?
My opinion on what makes building the world's tallest LEGO structure so popular is that it is just something to do for people that are bored.

Vegetarian Crocs

What is unusual about the reptiles that live at Nyanyana crocodile farm?
They are vegetarian because they eat vegetarian pellets. They sleep a lot more than normal crocs and they have skin softer than normal crocs. They not as vicious.

How did they turn this way?

Zimbabwe has a food crisis so they couldn't afford meat. They had to use pellets made with vegetables and meat then slowly they took out the meat and ended up fully vegetarian

What are the crocodiles being bred for?
These crocs are being bred for their skin so that the skin can be made into expensive handbags.

How do you feel about the crocodiles being bred for their skin? Is it different from breeding cows or chickens that are killed for meat? why?

I think that killing crocs is cruel because I like crocodiles.
